How can I change the language of the article and quizzes?

We have a "Change Language" option in Test Series and Daily Quizzes. If you want the content (test and quiz) in Hindi/English language, go to Settings -> Change Language, to change your default language from Hindi to English or Vice-Versa.

I am unable to make payment for the pass.

In case of failure of a transaction before the amount deduction, we advise the student to try making the payment again. In case of transaction failure after amount deduction either access to the purchased product will be provided within few hours or we request the student to wait for 3 to 4 working days. The money will be credited back to his/her account.

I have made the payment but the tests are not unlocked.

Background of the Day 

In 2007 the United Nations general Assembly passed a resolution to observe 15 September as International Day of Democracy.  The first International Day of Democracy was observed on 15 September 2008.

Telangana to celebrate National Integration Day for 3 days

The Telangana government on 3 September 2022 announced that September 17 will be celebrated as the Telangana National Integration Day. Celebrations will be conducted officially across the state for three days from September 16 to 18.

Telangana Liberation Day is observed on 17 September to mark the popular rebellion against the ruler of Hyderabad, Nizam after Independence . It subsequently  led to the Police action by India, code named ‘operation polo in 1948 and the Hyderabad princely state was merged with India .

Telangana is considered to be the successor state of Hyderabad princely state.


It was the 29th state(now there are 28 states in India) to be formed on 2nd June 2014. It was separated from Andhra Pradesh . 

The Telangana region was part of the Hyderabad state from Sept 17th 1948 to Nov 1st 1956, until it was merged with Andhra state to form the Andhra Pradesh state.

National Nutrition Week 2022

Theme of National Nutrition Week in 2022 :

  • The Government of India has described it as 'Celebrate World of Flavour'. It states that one should try new dishes, which are rich in nutrients.

National Nutrition Week begins : 

  • National Nutrition Week was first observed in March 1975 by the ADA (American Dietetic Association, now - Academy of Nutrition and Diet Science).

  • It was celebrated for the purpose of making people aware.

  • You will be surprised to know that in 1980, there was such a tremendous response from the people that it was celebrated for a whole month instead of a week.

  • However, the central government in India decided to launch a campaign, the National Nutrition Week, in 1982.

  • This campaign was created to educate people about the importance of nutrition and to give them information to lead a healthy lifestyle.

National Nutrition Week Significance :

  • Nutrition is central to our daily lives and a balanced and nutritious diet is essential to keep this chakra under control.

National Sports Day

Every year 29 August is observed as National Sports Day in India.

This day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of the hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand.


The National sports day was started in India in 2012 as a tribute to Dhyan Chand. 

On this day the President of India gives sport related national awards to distinguished sports persons like Major Dhyanchand Khel Ratna award, Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award, etc.

Major Dhyan Chand

  • He was born on August 29, 1905, in Allahabad.   He joined the Army and he took up Hockey while serving in the Army.
  • He captained India throughout his playing career and helped India win three Olympic medals – in 1928, 1932 and 1936.
  • He was considered as the wizard of Hockey.

Government programmes on this day

  • The Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports has organised - 'Meet the Champion' initiative in 26 schools across the country on the occasion of National Sports Day. .
  • 'Meet the Champion' is a unique school visit campaign that was kicked off by Olympic Gold medallist Neeraj Chopra in December last year.
  • During the school visit, the champion athlete shares their experiences, life lessons, and tips on how to eat right and also gives an overall inspirational boost to school children.
  • Prominent athletes who will be a part of this initiative are Commonwealth Games and World Championships Gold medallist Nikhat Zareen, Paralympics and Commonwealth Games medallist Bhavina Patel among others.

World Mosquito Day

Every year 20th August is observed as World Mosquito Day. It marks the anniversary of the discovery that mosquitoes transmit the parasite that causes malaria.


On this day in 1897, the British doctor Sir Ronald Ross discovered the malaria parasite in the stomach tissue of an Anopheles mosquito. His work later confirmed that mosquitoes are the vector which carries this devastating parasite from human to human.

Mosquito borne disease still a grave health hazard 

According to the World Health Organization, malaria alone leads to approximately 400,000 deaths annually. Other mosquito-borne diseases, even when non-fatal, can be devastating for patients. For example, Chikungunya causes crippling joint pain, and Zika infection in pregnant women can cause severe birth abnormalities.

Development of Malaria vaccine 

  • The mosquito-borne disease with the greatest global impact is malaria. Plasmodium falciparum, the parasite responsible for the most prevalent and severe cases of malaria, is transmitted from person-to-person by Anopheles mosquitoes, which are widespread throughout tropical regions of the world. 
  • British Pharma company GSK has developed the world's first malaria vaccine RTS,S  and it has been approved by .World Health Organization .
  • The RTS,S malaria vaccine is the first-ever vaccine against a parasitic disease, acting against Plasmodium falciparum.

World Photography Day

Two Frenchman, Joseph Nicephorus Niepce and Louis Daguerre, developed the first ever photographic process in 1837 called as daguerreotype.

On August 19, 1839, the then French government bought the invention's patent and gave it as a gift to the world. 

This step of the French government played an important role in making photography popular amongst the public.

Therefore, this day came to be observed as World Photography Day later on.

World Humanitarian Day

Every year 19 August is observed as World Humanitarian Day. This day is observed to remember and honour the role played by the people and organization in helping people who are in distress, in suffering and providing them with hope. 


On 19 August 2003, a bomb attack on the Canal Hotel in Baghdad, Iraq, killed 22 humanitarian aid workers, including the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Iraq, Sergio Vieira de Mello.

To honour and remember the sacrifices made by the humanitarian workers, the United Nation Security Council passed a resolution in 2008 designating 19 August as World Humanitarian Day.

Union Environment Ministry confers ‘Gaj Gaurav’ award on the occasion of World Elephant Day

The Union Ministry of Environment ,Forest and Climate Change has  conferred the first  ‘Gaj Gaurav’ award for the commendable efforts of local communities, frontline staff and mahouts working at grass root level to conserve elephants in wild and captivity on the occasion of the World Elephant Day on 12 August 2022.

This year the Malasar Community belonging to the Anamalai of Tamil Nadu and mahouts of Kerala and Assam were awarded the Gaj Gaurav award by the Union Minister for Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Bhupendra Yadav.

World Elephant Day is observed on 12 August every year.

World Elephant Day programme 2022 

The programme to celebrate the World Elephant day - 2022 was held at Periyar, Kerala in the presence of Shri Bhupender Yadav, Union Minister of Environment, Forest & Climate Change and other dignitaries at Periyar in Kerala.

Periyar National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is a protected area located in the districts of Idukki and Pathanamthitta in Kerala. It is an elephant reserve and a tiger reserve.

Elephants in India 

Project elephant was started in India in February 1992 to protect and conserve the elephants and its habitats.

At present around 60% of Asian elephants are found in India.

As per the last Elephant census held in 2017 there are 29,694 elephants in India.

Elephant Reserves in India 

The Union Minister said that India has 31 Elephant Reserves.

 In the last 3 years, Dandeli Elephant Reserve has been notified by the state of Karnataka, Singphan Elephant Reserve by Nagaland and Lemru Elephant Reserve in Chhattisgarh. This has brought the total area under Elephant Reserves in India to about 76,508 sq. km across 14 states of the country.

He also said that one more Elephant Reserve, the Agasthiyamalai in Tamil Nadu,  will be set up soon ,adding yet another 1197 sq. km of Protected Area dedicated for protection and conservation of elephants in India.

International Youth Day

Every year 12 August is observed as International Youth Day to  bring youth issues to the attention of the international community and to celebrate the potential of youth as partners in today’s global society.

According to the United Nations half of the people on our planet are 30 or younger, and this is expected to reach 57% by the end of 2030.


  • The idea for International Youth Day was proposed in 1991 by the young people who were gathered in Vienna, Austria, for the first session of the World Youth Forum of the United Nations System.
  • In 1998, a resolution proclaiming 12 August as International Youth Day was adopted by the first session of the World Conference of Ministers Responsible for Youth, which was hosted by the Government of Portugal in cooperation with the United Nations at Lisbon.
  • The United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution on 17  December 1999 to observe 12 August as International Youth Day 
  • The first International Youth Day was observed in 2010.

World Elephant Day

Every year 12 August is observed as World Elephant Day. This day seeks to draw the attention of the world for the conservation and protection of African and Asian elephants.

According to the World Wide Fund for Nature(WWF), the greatest threat to African elephants is poaching for the illegal ivory trade, while Asian elephant populations are most at risk from habitat loss and resulting human-elephant conflict.

India is home to about 60% of Asian elephants. 


World Elephant Day was first observed in the year 2012 by two Canadian filmmakers Patricia Sims and Michael Clark along with the Thailand-based Elephant Reintroduction Foundation. 

Patricia Sims runs an organisation dedicated for promoting the conservation effort for elephants called the World Elephant Society.

  • On average, an elephant can feed up to 18 hours and consume hundreds of pounds of plant matter in a single day. As a result, as they lose habitat, they often come into conflict with people in competition for resources.
  • The elephant herd is always led by a female elephant.
  • A single calf is born to a female once every four to five years and after a gestation period of 22 months—the longest of any mammal.
