Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari appeared last week to confer an honorary Doctor of Science degree at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth in Akola, Maharashtra.
During his address, Shri Gadkari laid special emphasis on the use of hydrogen, ethanol and other green fuels.
India's Road and Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari has claimed that the use of petrol in vehicles in India will end in the next five years.
Nitin Gadkari claimed that green fuel would eliminate the need for petrol.
Along with this, he also claimed that cars and scooters will either run on green hydrogen, ethanol flex-fuel, or CNG or LNG.
This claim of Nitin Gadkari about India is very big, because, India is one of the top petrol importing countries of the world and Indian diplomacy has also been affected due to importing of petrol.
He said, "I want to say with full confidence, that after five years the country will run out of petrol. Your cars and scooters will run either on Green Hydrogen, Ethanol Flex Fuel, CNG or LNG."
Along with this, Nitin Gadkari also appealed to agricultural researchers and experts to work on increasing the agricultural growth from 12 percent to 20 percent in the next five years.
The government is promoting ethanol made from crop residues as an alternative to petrol and diesel.
India is world's third-largest petrol importer:
