SSC STENO: AT A GLANCE
The Staff Selection Commission has issued a notification for the Stenographer Grade C & D Examination, 2022. An Open Competitive Computer Based Examination for recruitment to the posts of Stenographer Grade C (Group B, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade D (Group C) for various Ministries/Departments/Organizations in the Government of India. Only those candidates who have skills in stenography are eligible to apply from 20.08.2022 to 05.09.2022.

SSC STENO APPLICATION
HOW TO APPLY
Candidates can apply for this examination through Online Mode. In case you are facing any trouble in filling out the application form, then you can follow these steps to resolve your problem:
Visit the official website of the Commission i.e. Click Here
Tap, On SSC Stenographer Registration Link.
Fill the required details for the registration process.
Your ID and Password will be sent after the registration process to your registered email address.
Login on the portal with your ID and Password.
Fill in the details which are needed.
Upload your documents in the needed format and size.
Submit your application fee as per your category.
Take a printout of your application form for future reference.
Application fee for the different categories participating in the exam:

ADMIT CARD OR HALL TICKET:
Before 10 or 15 days of the examination, your admit card will be updated on the official website of the authorities. Some steps are given below which will help you download your admit card.
Go to the official website i.e. Click Here
Now, click the exam admit card.
Now, enter your registration details such as your registration ID or password.
Your admit card appears on the screen.
Now, download your admit card and take the printout of the same for further process.
(Note: Admit Card or Hall Ticket is the most important document for your examination in which all required details such as your Name, Date of Birth, Photo, Registration details, Name of your Centre, Date of your Examination and the reporting time of your examination is also written.)
SSC STENO ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Nationality
A candidate must be either:
(a) a citizen of India, or
(b) a subject of Nepal, or
(c) a subject of Bhutan, or
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India, before the 1st January,1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Educational Qualification
Candidates must have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination from a recognized Board or University as on 05.09.2022. To know the detailed information, you can check the official notification.
SELECTION PROCESS
1. Computer Based Test
The question paper will be of Objective Type Multiple Choice only. The questions will be set both in English & Hindi language.
There will be a negative marking of 0.25 marks for each wrong answer. Candidates are, therefore, advised to keep this in mind while answering the questions.
The questions will be asked on the topics of General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness and English Language and Comprehension.
Candidates have to complete the exam in 2 Hours (2 hours and 40 minutes for the candidates eligible for scribe.
2. Skill Test
The candidates who are shortlisted in the Computer Based Examination will be required to appear in the Skill Test for Stenography. The candidates will be given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi (as opted by the candidates in the online Application Form) at the speed of 100 words per minute (w.p.m.) for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m. for the post of Stenographer Grade D. The matter will have to be transcribed on computer.
3. Document Verification
All the candidates qualified for Document Verification are required to appear for Document Verification along with the photocopies and original documents on specified date to be released by SSC.
SSC STENO EXAM PATTERN
The exam will be conducted in both medium Hindi as well as English. Every question carries 1 mark each and 0.25 marks will be deducted for every wrong answer. This examination will be held in Online Mode only, which is Objective Type in nature.

General Intelligence & Reasoning | It would include questions of both verbal and non-verbal type. The test will include questions on analogies, similarities and differences, space visualization, problem solving, analysis, judgment, decision making, visual memory, discriminating observation, relationship concepts, arithmetical reasoning, verbal and figure classification, arithmetical number series, non-verbal series etc. The test will also include questions designed to test the candidate’s abilities to deal with abstract ideas and symbols and their relationship, arithmetical computation and other analytical functions. |
General Awareness | Questions will be designed to test the ability of the candidate’s general awareness of the environment around him and its application to society. Questions will also be designed to test the knowledge of current events and of such matters of everyday observation and experience in their scientific aspects as may be expected of an educated person. The test will also include questions relating to India and its neighbouring countries especially pertaining to Sports, History, Culture, Geography, Economic scene, General Polity including Indian Constitution, and Scientific Research etc. These questions will be such that they do not require a special study of any discipline. |
English Language & Comprehension | In addition to the testing of candidates' understanding of the English Language, its vocabulary, grammar, sentence structure, synonyms, antonyms and its correct usage, etc., his/ her writing ability would also be tested. |
